Dr. Tarlochan Singh Kler

Dr. Tarlochan Singh Kler is a Padma Bhushan awardee and serves as Chairman of the Fortis Heart and Vascular Institute at Fortis Memorial Research Institute in Gurugram and Fortis Hospital. He is a renowned cardiologist with extensive leadership experience in cardiac care institutions across India.

He obtained his MBBS from Government Medical College, Patiala, followed by an MD in Medicine and a DM in Cardiology from PGIMER, Chandigarh. Additionally, he earned an MRCP from the United Kingdom, enhancing his expertise in internal medicine and cardiology.

Dr. Kler is celebrated as a pioneer of interventional cardiology and electrophysiology in India. He has performed more than 25,000 coronary, renal, carotid and peripheral angioplasties, implanted the first ICD, CRT-P, CRT-D devices in the country, and introduced HIS bundle pacing in 2015. He also established the first dedicated electrophysiology department at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute and initiated radiofrequency ablation programs that have been replicated across South Asia.

With over fifty years of professional experience, including forty‑one years as a specialist cardiologist, Dr. Kler has held senior positions at Escorts Heart Institute, Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute, and currently leads the Fortis Heart and Vascular Institute. He practices at Max Hospital in Sushant Lok I, Gurgaon, and continues to train over 200 doctors nationally and internationally while serving as an honorary professor at BHU and O. P. Jindal University and advising multinational medical device companies.
