Dr. (Prof.) D. S. Gambhir

Dr. (Prof.) D. S. Gambhir is the Group Director of Cardiology at Kailash Hospital & Heart Institute in Sector 27, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. With over 44 years of experience, he is recognized as a leading interventional cardiologist in India.

He holds an MD and DM, along with fellowships including FAMS, FICC, FCSI, FSCAI, and FACC (USA). His academic journey began after completing his DM when he joined the Department of Cardiology at G. B. Pant Hospital, New Delhi, as an Assistant Professor in 1985, later advancing to Professor. He is a long‑standing member of the Cardiological Society of India and serves on the editorial boards of international journals such as the British Heart Journal and CCI (USA).

His clinical expertise centers on complex and multivessel angioplasty, coronary interventions, and drug‑coated stent procedures. He has performed more than 15,000 coronary interventions, delivered over 300 guest lectures, and given 40 orations at national and international forums. Dr. Gambhir has authored 115 original research papers, contributed textbook chapters, and edited 'Cardiology Update' in 2002. He has served as Honorary Editor of the Indian Heart Journal (1995‑2000) and as Principal Investigator in numerous multicentre drug and device trials.

Throughout his career he has received several honours, including the Distinguished Physician Award, Legend in Cardiology Award (2017), Distinguished Alumnus Award from Maulana Azad Medical College (2017), Pioneer in Interventional Cardiology recognition from the Delhi Intervention Council, and the Vashist Chikitsa Award. At Kailash Hospital & Heart Institute, he continues to provide advanced cardiac care, contributing to the development of a drug‑coated stent in 2002 and maintaining active clinical practice.
